COMMIT YOUR WORKS TO THE LORD
"Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established." Proverbs 16:3
That is a lot of words for such a short sentence. For the Christian we know that we
have an adversary, our enemy would like to see us fail. That is normal and we are to
overcome the thoughts of failure. It is easier when we have a relationship with God,
which is what we are establishing here today. So we submit to Him, first out of love and
second out of knowing that everyday is a new day. It is not a good thing when our
focus is on past failures, that is a problem and will keep many from not going forward.
God does see the whole picture and will move us as we submit to Him, but it is our own
thoughts that we must deal with. I can not get away from Jeremiah 29 this morning.
"For I know that thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and
not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." I believe it is only in God that we have the
power to move forward in this life. He is the resurrection and the life. He has given us
breath and we are at times forgetful of the smaller details that God has enabled us to do.
That is not good! Either we focus on what we are going through or focus on what we
are going to do in this life. We can't enjoy a victory if we haven't experienced a defeat or
two. God is long suffering toward us and we are to realize that, the gift of long suffering
is the fruit we need. We know about the others. It is that fruit, I believe that causes us to
birth great things in God. It is what makes us like an anchor in hope as we are to wait on
God, for him to do things behind the scenes. I know this fact, if we have not written out
our vision, plans and dreams, most likely we will lose our focus. In order to move
forward, you must decide to do that, and that decision comes because you do not like
where you are. I heard a saying once and it has been branded in my heart for eternity.
"Discontentment is the catalyst for change. Intolerance of the present creates a future." I
do not even know who said that, but I am glad they did. A person can not go forward in
God, until they realize that where they are is not getting them anywhere. So God opens
our eyes so we can see, that it is time to move forward. When we seek God for our
future plans, we usually do it because we do not like what is happening or where we are.
I believe that discontentment can be used to move us forward, but it is not God's desire
that we live in this state all the time. Habakkuk wasn't happy, he felt that God wasn't
listening to him, and that God wasn't paying attention to injustice. Everything he saw
was as if God didn't care. Or so he thought. We could go into great detail here, but my
focus this morning is about writing out our vision. Habakkuk was waiting for God to
correct him and believed the Lord to do it. Instead the Lord answered him; "Write out
the vision, and make it plain upon the tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the
vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; through it
tarry wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold his soul which is
lifted up is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith." This particular place in
the Word transformed me. It is why I share it with you. Most of us do not like what is
happening and we desire for God to move faster. There is a reason He does it His way, I
believe it is to prevent us from receiving the counterfeit that the enemy would like us to
have. We have made a lifetime commitment to our Lord, and it is through our lives that
others will see Him. God always gives instructions and we are to seek Him and write
them down. You have no idea what people see, when they look at your life. His people
are miracles!
I can tell you this, I am so thankful for God sending Jesus Christ. It is through Him that
there is a new and better way. All of us who desire that He is Lord of our life, have been
given His Spirit to overcome. It is in the hope we have and the dreams we've been given
that keep us seeking and moving forward in God. God's church is about people, not
buildings. Once we were not a people but now we are. God's people are given His Spirit
to overcome in this life, and not just that but to go forward and lay down memorial
stones of what God has already done. Many times we may have to visit those stones as
we will forget what God has done. Don't think you won't, look at the people in the Old
Testament, they saw miracles, but still complained about there circumstances......and we
do the same. So lets do something about it! If you have not written down your dreams,
goals and plans, most likely you do not have any, and are just getting by........this is a
terrible tragedy! I know that what I have just written is more for the lost soul, but at
times our lives have experienced set-backs and we are to remember what we hoped and
dreamed for. God hasn't forgotten you, we at times may think He has. So be done with
that kind of thinking. He will come and fulfill His plans through us. "Commit your way to
the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5
Galations 6:9
God is Always Thinking About Us.....
His thoughts are more numerable than the sands of the sea. It is written; "See, I have
inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before me." Isaiah
49"16 I know this is a lot of meat this morning, but hopefully it is getting you really
hungry! It is our desire to stir up the gifts within you, and for all to know why they are
given these gifts. We are to honor God, serve God and live for God. May He bless you
today and move you in what you are called to do. That is where He favor is....
